Key Stats
Baltimore Ravens
The Baltimore Ravens are coming off a dominant win last week against the Pittsburgh Steelers. Derrick Henry was DOMINANT in the win. He finished the game with 26 carries for 186 yards and 2 touchdowns. Lamar Jackson was efficient by completing 16 of his 21 passes for 175 yards and 2 touchdowns. Jackson also added 86 rushing yards on 15 carries. Isaiah Likely finished the game with a team-high 53 receiving yards on 3 catches.
Baltimore was efficient on 3rd down by converting 10 of their 15 3rd downs. That is very impressive. They are almost unstoppable if they can dominate the ground game for almost 300 yards rushing.
Over the past eight games, this defense has been on fire. They have not given up more than 24 points, in the past eight games and haven’t given up 20 or more in the last five games. Baltimore held Pittsburgh to 280 total yards and tallied 4 sacks in the win. In terms of injuries, Zay Flowers is still listed as questionable with his knee injury. This team did not need Flowers against the Steelers. If he can’t play this weekend, that is a massive loss for a team that might need to win in a shootout. The keys for this game are whether Baltimore controls the game and the clock with Henry and Jackson.
Buffalo Bills
The Buffalo Bills dominated last week against the Denver Broncos, 31-7. Josh Allen was awesome in the win. He completed 20 of his 26 passes for 272 yards and 2 touchdowns. James Cook had a fantastic game as well. Cook finished the game with 120 rushing yards on 23 carries and a rushing touchdown. Curtis Samuel chose a great game for his best performance of the season. He caught 3 passes for 68 yards, including a 55-yard touchdown in the 4th quarter.
If the Bills can continue to protect the ball and be the team they have been, this is a dangerous team and one that could represent the AFC in the Super Bowl.
The Bills defense has been good all season long and it was no different in the Wild Card round. They held Denver to 224 total yards, 2/9 on 3rd down, and 18 min time of possession. That is a dominant performance no matter who you play. While they didn’t force any turnovers, they didn’t need to.
Regarding injuries, there is only one to monitor in this game. Ray Davis is listed as questionable for this game. Not the biggest injury concern but still a rotation back in the Bills offense. It starts with stopping the run in this game. They can not allow Derrick Henry to go for 199 rushing again.
Prediction
The Buffalo Bills are going to beat the Baltimore Ravens in this game and advance to their first AFC Championship appearance since 2020. I expect Josh Allen to bounce back from his poor performance on the road in the regular season against this Ravens team.
However, the key matchup in this game is Baltimore’s rushing attack against a Bills defense that was 12th in the regular season in rushing yards allowed per game. With temperatures expected to be at 14 and feel like -3 during the game, we know the Bills know how to play in the frigid cold. Josh Allen has an MVP-type performance and gets past the Ravens in this game!
