Key Stats
Seattle Seahawks
The Seattle Seahawks are coming off a tough loss at home last week to the Minnesota Vikings, 27-24. Geno Smith delivered a typical Geno Smith performance. He completed 31 of 43 passes for 314 yards, 3 touchdowns, and 2 interceptions, including the game-losing interception with 55 seconds to go. Jaxon Smith-Njigba had a great game.
He finished with 8 catches for 95 yards and a touchdown. DK Metcalf finished the game with 3 catches for 57 yards and a touchdown. Kenneth Walker III had a good game in his first game back in three weeks with 59 yards from scrimmage. Seattle is in a must-win and it starts with their offense.
This Seattle defense has been an average defense this season. They are ranked 13th in points allowed per game, 15th in passing yards allowed per game, 18th in rushing yards allowed per game, 16th in offensive touchdowns allowed, 17th in sacks, and 21st in takeaways per game. In general speaking, this is one of the healthier teams in the NFL.
Kenneth Walker III is the only starter who is currently listed as questionable. The key to this game is if Geno Smith can protect the ball and limit the turnovers. He is currently 2nd in the NFL in interceptions. He must be better if they are to win this game.
Chicago Bears
The Chicago Bears are coming off a tough defeat at home to the Detroit Lions, 34-17. Caleb Williams was good despite the loss. He completed 26 of 40 passes for 334 yards and 2 touchdowns. Keenan Allen was exceptional with 9 catches for 141 receiving yards and a touchdown. DJ Moore and Rome Odunze combined for 11 catches for 145 receiving yards as well.
This team has lost nine games in a row, the last three by double digits. It isn’t the worst thing in the world with Williams having a lot of playing time under his belt, it sets a good foundation for next season on things he can improve on in the offseason.
This Chicago defense has been a below-average defense most of the season. They are ranked 14th in points allowed per game, 23rd in passing yards allowed per game, 26th in rushing yards allowed per game, 11th in offensive touchdowns allowed, 19th in sacks, and 10th in takeaways per game. If you look at injuries, there are a few to monitor entering this week.
Gervon Dexter Sr., Travis Homer, Teven Jenkins, and Doug Kramer Jr. are all listed as questionable for this game. This team is just ready for the offseason. They have nothing left to play for but pride. However, they are a few years away from being something special.
Prediction
The Chicago Bears are going to cover the 3.5-point spread in this game against the Seattle Seahawks at home. Chicago is due for a win. We know they have been on a 9 game losing streak, but the only times they have been blown out is against the best teams in the NFC. I don’t believe these teams are too far apart that Seattle should be a lock in this game.
The Bears have the weapons to spread Seattle’s defense out and take advantage of their subpar corners, especially their nickel corner. Lastly, even though Chicago can’t stop the run, Seattle is a pass-happy team and Geno will turn the ball over a few times and cost Seattle this game.
