Key Stats
Baltimore Ravens
The Baltimore Ravens are coming off a dominant win last week against the Pittsburgh Steelers, 34-17. Lamar Jackson was efficient in the win. He completed 15 of 23 passes for 207 yards, 3 touchdowns, and an interception. Derrick Henry was the star of the game. He dominated the game with 24 carries for 162 yards. Henry also added 2 catches for 27 yards. Zay Flowers had a good game as well. Flowers reeled in 5 catches for 100 yards. Both tight ends, Mark Andrews and Isaiah Likely caught touchdown passes as well. When this offense is rolling, they are one of the best in the NFL.
Despite the shaky start, this defense has been playing better as of late. For the season, they are ranked 19th in points allowed per game, 31st in passing yards allowed per game, 1st in rushing yards allowed per game, 16th in offensive touchdowns allowed, 2nd in sacks, and 24th in takeaways per game. This Ravens offense has a few injuries to monitor entering this game. Zay Flowers, Justice Hill, Nelson Agholor, and Tyler Linderbaum are all listed as questionable for this game. It won’t matter who plays or not if King Henry can dominate the game like he did last week.
Houston Texans
The Houston Texans are coming off an emotional loss last week to the Kansas City Chiefs, 27-19. CJ Stroud played a subpar game in the loss. He completed 23 of 39 passes for 244 yards, 2 touchdowns, and 2 interceptions. Tank Dell was awesome in the game with 6 catches for 98 yards and a touchdown but suffered a major season-ending injury in the 3rd quarter. Nico Collins had a solid game with 7 catches for 60 yards. Joe Mixon had a bad performance for his standards. He finished the game with 57 rushing yards on 14 carries. This team is decimated on the offensive side of the ball with injuries.
Defensively, they are one of the better defenses in the NFL. They are ranked 9th in points allowed per game, 6th in passing yards allowed per game, 11th in rushing yards allowed per game, 14th in offensive touchdowns allowed, 3rd in sacks, and 3rd in takeaways per game. If you look at the injury report, they have some notable players that are questionable or out.
Will Anderson Jr., Jimmie Ward, Denico Autry, Christian Harris, John Metchie III, and Shaq Mason are all listed as questionable for this game. There are times when you are too injured on one side of the ball and the Texans’ offense is getting to that point.
Prediction
The Baltimore Ravens are going to beat the Houston Texans and cover the 3.5-point spread in this game. Derrick Henry is going to destroy this Texans’ defense. I expect this offense in general to have a big game. Lamar has been playing at an MVP level all season and that will continue. As for the Texans, their offense is so riddled with injuries, that they won’t be able to take advantage of Baltimore’s woes on defense.
If Tank Dell had been healthy, they would have been in a great spot, but it is heartbreaking that he suffered the injury. Baltimore wins and secures their 11th win of the season and stays pace with the Pittsburgh Steelers in the AFC North.
