The Philadelphia Eagles are heading to Washington to take on the Commanders this weekend. Philly is coming off a great win last week against the Pittsburgh Steelers, 27-13. Washington on the other hand, defeated the New Orleans Saints 20-19 and were a two-point conversion away from losing the game. This should be a great game between two NFC East rivals. Can the Eagles extend their winning streak to a franchise-record 11 games or will the Commanders extend their winning streak to three in a row? Let’s dive head-first into this game and cook up a winning slip!

Key Stats
Philadelphia Eagles
The Philadelphia Eagles are coming off a big-time win last week against the Pittsburgh Steelers 27-13. Jalen Hurts had a fantastic game by completing 25 of 32 passes for 290 yards, 2 passing touchdowns, 45 rushing yards, and a rushing touchdown. The dynamic duo of AJ Brown and DeVonta Smith dominated in the win. They combined for 19 catches, 219 receiving yards, and 2 touchdowns.
Saquon Barkley had his second-lowest rushing total of the season with 65 rushing yards on 19 carries. This offense dominated time of possession 40 minutes to 20 minutes. When this offense is clicking, they are borderline unstoppable.
Philly’s defense has been one of, if not, the best defense in the NFL. They are ranked 1st in points allowed per game, 1st in passing yards allowed per game, 7th in rushing yards allowed per game, 3rd in offensive touchdowns allowed, 9th in sacks, and 15th in takeaways per game. As far as injuries go, the only key injury is Dallas Goedert. He was placed on injury reserve last week and will miss the first of a minimum of four games. Other than that, they are a very healthy team this late in the season.
Washington Commanders
The Washington Commanders won a nailbiter last week against the New Orleans Saints 20-19. Rookie Quarterback Jayden Daniels had a good game. He completed 25 of 31 passes for 226 yards and 2 touchdowns. Daniels also added 11 carries for 66 yards. Terry McLaurin had an outstanding game. He caught 7 passes for 73 yards and 2 touchdowns. Brian Robinson Jr. finished the game with 87 yards from scrimmage. This offense dominated time of possession 40 minutes to 20 minutes. When you look at the team stats, they should have blown the doors off the Saints.
The Commanders’ defense has been above average this season under first-year head coach Dann Quinn. For the season, they are ranked 16th in points allowed per game, 4th in passing yards allowed per game, 25th in rushing yards allowed per game, 24th in offensive touchdowns allowed, 14th in sacks, and 21st in takeaways per game. When it comes to injuries, this team has a few on offense. They will be without Austin Ekeler, Noah Brown, Austin Seibert, and Zach Ertz, who is questionable with a concussion. Despite the injuries, their offense has been firing on all cylinders.
Prediction
The Philadelphia Eagles are going to win this weekend and cover the 3.5-point spread in this game against the Washington Commanders. Despite the Commanders having a top-10 offense, Philly’s defense is a perfect match against them. I consider that matchup a “wash”, so what will it come down to?
Can the Commanders stop the rushing attack of the Philadelphia Eagles? I don’t believe they can. We saw when they played in Philly earlier this season that Saquon Barkley had almost 200 yards from scrimmage and two touchdowns. The Eagles will soar to a big-time win to close the gap between them and the Detroit Lions for the number one seed.
