New Orleans Saints

The New Orleans Saints are coming off a heartbreaking loss to the Washington Commanders last week, 20-19. Spencer Rattler played in the second half for Jake Haener. Rattler played solid by completing 10 of 21 passes for 135 yards, and a touchdown. He was one play from upsetting the Commanders.

Marquez Valdes-Scantling led the team with 64 receiving yards. Alvin Kamara was subpar running the ball with 12 rushing yards on 5 carries but finished with 4 catches for 58 receiving yards, including a 21-yard touchdown. It is hard to win in the NFL when you lose time of possession from 19 minutes to 41 minutes.

The Saints’ defense has been a bend but don’t break defense all season. They are ranked 13th in points allowed per game, 28th in passing yards allowed per game, 27th in rushing yards allowed per game, 13th in offensive touchdowns allowed, 12th in sacks, and 15th in takeaways per game. Regarding injuries, Derek Carr is questionable with a left-hand injury/concussion. They will be without their top two receivers again, Rashid Shaheed and Chris Olave. If New Orleans has to start Rattler or Haener again, it might be time to “punt” the last two games and improve your draft pick.

Green Bay Packers

The Green Bay Packers are coming off an impressive win last week on the road against the Seattle Seahawks, 30-13. Jordan Love was good by completing 20 of 27 passes for 229 yards, and 2 touchdowns. Josh Jacobs dominated the game with 136 yards from scrimmage, 94 rushing, 42 receiving, and a rushing touchdown.

Christian Watson led the team with 56 receiving yards on 3 catches. Romeo Doubs had a solid game with 3 catches for 40 yards and 2 touchdowns. Lastly, the Packers’ offense is top eight in points per game, rushing yards per game, offensive touchdowns, and yards per play.

Green Bay’s defense has been one of the better defenses in the NFL this season. They are ranked 8th in points allowed per game, 15th in passing yards allowed per game, 9th in rushing yards allowed per game, 11th in offensive touchdowns allowed, 7th in sacks, and 4th in takeaways per game. In terms of injuries, they are one of the more healthy teams in the NFL.

The only notable injury is Jaire Alexander who missed the last game with a knee injury and is questionable for this game against the Saints. If Alexander returns Monday, the return of their best cover corner might put them in the upper echelon of teams in the NFC.

Prediction

The Green Bay Packers are going to beat the brakes off the New Orleans Saints and cover the 13.5-point spread in this game. This is a bad matchup for New Orleans. The Saints don’t have any incentive for winning this game, besides pride. Without their two best receivers, I don’t know how this team scores 20 points on this defense.

I expect Josh Jacobs to have another monster game. We saw him tally 30 total touches against Seattle for almost 150 yards from scrimmage. Love and Jacobs lead this team to their 11th in of the season, five of their last six, and close the gap between them and the Lions/Vikings in the NFC.

Final Pick

Green Bay Packers -13.5 (-110)
