The middle game of this interleague series on Saturday afternoon sees the Colorado Rockies take on the New York Yankees. The Yankees were able to win the opening game by a score of 3-0 and are looking to win another series here. With two rookie pitchers in Bradley Blalock (0-0, 2.92 ERA) and Will Warren (0-1, 8.59 ERA) on the bump, this should be an intriguing game.

Key Stats
Colorado Rockies
The Colorado Rockies have been an abysmal team throughout the season as they are last in the NL West with a 47-82 record. The team struggles on the road as their .639 road OPS is 29th in MLB this season. Their best hitter throughout the season has been center fielder Brenton Doyle who has a .798 OPS with 21 home runs, 61 RBIs and 24 stolen bases thus far. He has been on fire with a .308/.379/.538 slash line over the course of his last seven games as well.
Rookie right-hander Bradley Blalock is getting the start for the Rockies here and he is making just his fourth career appearance as he is yet to have a decision but is doing well with a 2.92 ERA and a 1.30 WHIP in 12.1 innings. His command needs some work with a 3:6 walk-to-strikeout ratio thus far. However, he is providing length as he last outing was against the San Diego Padres where he threw 5.2 innings and gave up one run on six hits with three walks and a pair of strikeouts.
New York Yankees
The New York Yankees have been one of the best teams in Major League Baseball this season and are fighting with the Baltimore Orioles for the top of the AL East. The Bronx Bombers are heating up as they have won their previous three games and the unbelievable numbers that center fielder Aaron Judge has provided showcase his dominance.
So far this year, Judge has a 1.192 OPS with 49 homers, 119 RBIs, and a 104:135 walk-to-strikeout ratio. With a .415/.554/.896 slash line over the previous 30 games, it is difficult to get him out. Rookie righty Will Warren gets the call here and he is struggling as this is also his fourth career game. He is 0-1 with an 8.59 ERA in 14.2 innings but had a solid outing against the Chicago White Sox where he did not factor into the decision but threw five innings and allowed a pair of runs without issuing a walk.
Prediction
The New York Yankees are clearly the better overall team and should be able to prove that once again here. Even though the lineup struggles this season against rookie pitching, the Rockies are not going to be able to hit on the road. The Yankees’ pitching has been nothing short of dominant over the last two games as they are holding hitters to 5-for-58 in that span.
The bullpens are going to be the difference maker and the Yankees can work the count enough that even if they do struggle against Blalock, he will not be in the game often. Expect the bats to explode and for Yankee Stadium to be wild on Saturday afternoon.
Final Pick
New York Yankees -1.5 (-130)
