Boston Celtics vs. Cleveland Cavaliers Preview, Prediction and Odds | May 15 2024

Cleveland Cavaliers vs Boston Celtics

The Boston Celtics(3-1) are set to battle with the Cleveland Cavaliers(3-1) in an epic game 6 tonight.

The Cavs put up a good fight without Donovan Mitchell in game 5 but to no avail. The Boston Celtics won by 7 points en route to a 3-1 lead in the series. Cleveland now has to fight for another road win if they want to stay alive while the Celtics are trying to send them home.

Will Boston punch their ticket to the next round or will the series be pushed back to Cleveland for a game 7?

Key Stats

Boston Celtics

After losing game 2 at home, Boston responded in a big way, winning both games on Cleveland’s home court, and going up 3-1 in the series. They did so on the backs of their two superstars, Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown. Tatum scored 33 points in both games 3 and 4, while Brown scored 28 and 27 respectively.

Cleveland Cavaliers

The Cavaliers have been riddled with injuries throughout this playoff run, but they need to be healthy to keep this series alive. Donovan Mitchell, who is averaging 29.6 points in the postseason didn’t play in game 4. Another guy who can help out with the scoring is Darius Garland, who had 30 points last game without Mitchell.

On defense, the Cavs are missing their starting center, Jarrett Allen. He was averaging 1.3 steals and 1.0 in the playoffs before he got injured. Picking up his slack is Evan Mobley who records 9.8 rebounds and 2.2 blocks per game.

Injury Report

Boston Celtics

  • Kristaps Porzingis – OUT

Cleveland Cavaliers

  • Jarrett Allen – Questionable
  • Caris LeVert – Questionable
  • Craig Porter Jr. – OUT
  • Ty Jerome – OUT

Game Prediction

The spread is 14.5 points which is crazy for a playoff game. This Cavs team just kept a game without Donovan Mitchell within 7 points. Now tonight they most likely are getting Mitchell back, who is the king of elimination games. I find it hard to believe that the Cavs will go quietly.

Cleveland proved that they can play on the road at Boston, winning their only game at TD Garden. Not having Mitchell in game 4 was not ideal, but it did help Darius Garland and Max Strus find their grove, and I think that could really benefit the Cavs in this game.

Final Pick

Cleveland Cavaliers +14.5 (-110)
