The San Antonio Spurs (15-55) take on the Phoenix Suns (41-29) tonight. The Suns are the heavy favorite in this one, as the records forecast. However, San Antonio is at home for this one, and rookie sensation Victor Wembanyama is starting to hit his stride. There are many angles to take for this game when looking for player props to bet on tonight.
Jusuf Nurkic (Phoenix) Double-Double (+110)
One of those angles is Jusuf Nurkic. Nurkic has been dominant this season for the Suns and has provided them with some desperately needed size. That being said the San Antonio Spurs struggle vs size. Despite having a great paint protector like Victor Wembanyama, they still allow the most points in the entire NBA to the center position. Nurkic has played 2 games vs San Antonio so far this season. In the first game, he had 12 points. In the second game, he only played 18 minutes and had 7 points. However, Nurkic’s days of inconsistent minutes are over. He has played 26+ minutes in 9 of his last 10 games.
The second thing we need from the big man is 10 rebounds. Jusuf Nurkic has 10+ rebounds in 11 of his last 13 games. He shows great consistency in that department. His rebounds line for tonight is 11.5, which gives us a 2-rebound discount. Nurkic has settled into his role on this Phoenix team, and it is to grab every rebound possible. This should be the easier part of the double-double, and I love Nurkic’s chances of getting 10 points tonight.
Tre Jones (San Antonio) Over 7.5 Assists (+114)
Another player I love in this game is one for the home team. Tre Jones has been a very solid point guard for San Antonio. He has been even better since entering the starting lineup. His chemistry with Victor Wembanyama has been building ever since, and this is a great spot to take advantage of that chemistry. The Phoenix Suns allow the 5th most assists to point guards this season. Just last game, they gave up 10 assists to Dejounte Murray of the Atlanta Hawks, and a week ago they allowed 16 assists to Damian Lillard.
Another reason I think Tre Jones will go over his assist line tonight is because he is at home. Most players in the NBA play better at home than on the road, and Jones is no different. This will be Tre Jones’ first home game vs Phoenix this season, and he already had a 10-assist game vs them this season. Tre Jones has played 30+ min in 7 straight games now, so the volume will be there.
