We have a small two-game slate of action in the NHL on this Monday, March 18th, 2024. Here are our favorite bets from the guys on “The Stew with JT Brew” podcast, which airs its “NHL Around the Ice” segment every Wednesday night on Total Apex Sports YouTube channel.
Washington Capitals (+114) at Calgary Flames (-135) – 8:30 PM EST
Over/Under 6 Goals (-110)
The Flames host the Capitals in what has the potential to be a super boring matchup. The Caps venture into their fifth straight road game, looking for a win after splitting the first four. The Flames are hosting their fourth straight game and are looking to avoid a split after a few nice home wins against Montreal and Vegas.
Washington is just not scoring of late, as they have put up 2-2-2-0 goals scored on this current road trip. After getting beat down by Colorado at home on March 12 by a score of 6-2, Calgary has scored nine goals in their last two home wins. This will be the fourth matchup between these clubs, where Washington holds a 2-1 advantage. Two of the three games went five goals or under.
Young netminder Dustin Wolf gets the nod for Calgary tonight, sporting a 3-3-1 record with a .900 save percentage on the season. This will be his third straight start for Calgary, and he has looked great of late. Darcy Kuemper will likely get the nod, as what appears to be #1 goaltender Charlie Lindgren is dealing with an injury. Calgary has been great since February 19, losing only to Seattle, Florida, Carolina, and Colorado.
Players to watch include Nazem Kadri, who has three goals and 6 assists in his last ten games for the Flames, and Yegor Sharangovich who has eight goals and four assists in his last ten games.
4 Pick Parlay: Calgary Money Line, Calgary Over 2.5 Team Goals, Kadri (CGY) Anytime Assist, and Sharangovich (CGY) Anytime Point +385 on Draft Kings
Buffalo Sabres (-105) at Seattle Kraken (-115) – 10:00 PM EST
Over/Under 5.5 Goals (-110)
In Seattle’s short but successful existence, they have dominated the Sabres going 5-0 and outscoring them 26-12. Six or more total goals have been scored in every matchup, with four of the five going seven or more.
Seattle has never scored less than four goals against Buffalo. Seattle goalie Joey Daccord will get the nod in net tonight, trying to end a four-game skid.
Daccord has gotten no help from the Kraken offense in his last two starts, losing both 3-0 and 2-1. One never knows what they will get with Buffalo, as they are about the most inconsistent team in the league this season.
Seattle’s playoff hopes have all but been shattered following this four-game losing streak. It will be difficult to predict the money line or the over/under if betters do not look at the lopsided historical data in favor of Seattle.
Both these squads are very stingy against allowing shots and goals, hence the reason for the 5.5 Over/Under goals. Gamblers may place a wager on history in this one and hope for the best.
3 Pick Parlay: Seattle Money Line, Over 5.5 Total Goals, and Seattle Over 2.5 Team Goals +234 on Draft Kings
