Michigan is a team that is looking forward to its next tenure as head coach. Although Juan Howard is a Fab Five legend, his time on the sidelines for this team needs to come to an end for both parties. That will, of course, never take away from what he did for this program as a player and even initially as a coach, but the last couple of years have proven to be too much for him. However, this team has potential in Will Tschetter, who is a sophomore and needs to have something out of a breakout game today. He is averaging 7.0 points per game this year.
Additionally, Doug McDaniel is coming off a strong 19-point performance against Ohio State. However, it was off one of six shots from range. If either of these two players could get it going, then Michigan has a chance of at least keeping it close today against the Nebraska Cornhuskers. However, considering the run of play how out of sync this team has been, and how out of sync that program is as a whole, it’s unlikely that this game remains close. But because they’re facing a weak road team in Nebraska, the players will know that this is an opportunity to grab one more win during this regular season.
Game Prediction
This game favors the road team in every way. Although the Nebraska Cornhuskers have been weak away from home, this should be a game that they not only win but win comfortably. Therefore, I’m picking against the spread and taking the visitors today. While Nebraska has legitimate concerns away from home, this Michigan team is just not good enough at this moment to compete.
Furthermore, it’s unlikely that Michigan will be able to keep up with the offense of Nebraska today. In what has been a frustrating year for the Wolverines, it’s unlikely that that alone will be able to muster what’s needed to pull off an upset win today in Ann Arbor. Unless Nebraska has a complete off-day shooting, then I see the Nebraska Cornhuskers winning comfortably.
