San Antonio Spurs vs Indiana Pacers Preview, Predictions and Odds| March 3 2024

San Antonio Spurs

The San Antonio Spurs (12-48) host the Indiana Pacers (34-27) for a Sunday afternoon matchup. Indiana has won three of the last five games. Additionally, they hope to climb the NBA seedings in order to put themselves in a better position for the playoffs. While their eighth seed remains secure, they are only half a game back from the Miami Heat and Orlando Magic.

Conversely, the San Antonio Spurs have struggled to get to 12 wins, but everyone knew going in that this would be a rebuilding year for them. Additionally, it’s important to note that the first game between these two ended in a Pacers victory by a 41-point margin. Moreover, the Spurs are coming off a good win against the Oklahoma City Thunder, whereas the Pacers are coming off a bad loss against the New Orleans Pelicans.

But do you see the San Antonio Spurs pulling off another win tonight at home against the Pacers?

Key Stats

San Antonio Spurs

San Antonio is looking to finish its season strong. They barely won double-digit games for a reason. Outside of Victor Wembanyama, there is not a lot of talent that is able to contribute consistently on a nightly basis. However, it looks like they have someone in Devin Vassell who can not only play with Wembanyama but also score on his own. However, Keldon Johnson remains demoted to a bench role for now. But he is someone who has talent and has shown glimpses of being great. Therefore, today against the Indiana Pacers would be a good game for him to get back on track for the San Antonio Spurs.

Indiana Pacers

Indiana Pacers

Indiana is looking improved as a team, as they won three of their last five games, but they dropped a game against the New Orleans Pelicans on the road. Additionally, Doug McDermott will remain out for a couple more games as he is dealing with a calf injury. This game against what is overall a bad San Antonio Spurs defense is perfect for someone like Tyrese Halliburton. Halliburton scored zero points on zero of seven shooting against the Pelicans. While this is an anomaly, he’ll for sure look to get a shot and get things going for himself offensively today. Additionally, Myles Turner will have his hands full at the center’s position today; he averages 17.2 points and 7.1 rebounds per game and will need to bolster the rim protection against Wembanyama.

Game Prediction

The Indiana Pacers are in better form in terms of wins; they have not played their best basketball as of late. Meanwhile, the Spurs can hang tough for most of the game on any given night. However, the later parts of the third quarter and fourth quarter have often been their undoing. But this is a young, growing team that was able to put together a game-winning sequence against the Oklahoma City Thunder the other day. Therefore, I’m picking them to do it again at home against the Indiana Pacers. However, the point total is a complete stay away from me, as this game could go either way. But either way, I see the San Antonio Spurs maybe not controlling parts of the game like they did against the Thunder but getting the job done against the Indiana Pacers.
