Tennessee Volunteers (4/1)

Defending national champions Tennessee (27-2) look as good as they did last season. On Tuesday, the Volunteers defeated Tennessee Tech at Lindsey Nelson Stadium in Knoxville, 7-1 as AJ Russell pitched a solid game. Tennessee has the lowest ERA in DI (2.54) and have some decent starters in Russell, Marcus Phillips (2.02), and Ole Miss transfer Liam Doyle who will get the pill on Friday night. With Dean Curley, another Ole Miss transfer Andrew Fischer (11 HR, 32 RBI), and Louisville transfer Gavin Kilen (.425, 10 HR), the No. 1- ranked Volunteers also certainly have the bats to get back to the CWS.

Arkansas Razorbacks (10/1)Arkansas Razorbacks, NCAA Baseball, College World Series

No. 2-ranked Arkansas (27-3) continued to stay hot, beating Grambling, 4-1 on Tuesday at Dickey-Stephens park in North Little Rock as the Razorbacks’ first three batters in the lineup all had 2 hits. Leadoff man Charles Davalan (47 hits), Wehiwa Aloy (43 hits), and younger brother Kuhio Aloy will give opposing pitchers nightmares all season. Like fellow SEC school Tennessee, Arkansas also a good pitching staff (3.60 ERA, #7 in DI).

Georgia Bulldogs (13/1)

Another SEC heavyweight, Georgia (29-2), should make it to the final eight teams in Omaha this summer. The Bulldogs rolled to a 21-1 win vs Queens University on Tuesday in a game that only went 7 innings. Leadoff batter Slate Alford went 4-for-5 with 2 HR and 5 RBI while No. 2-hitter Robbie Burnett had 2 HR (13 overall) and 6 RBI and No. 3-ranked Georgia pounded out 17 hits. But maybe the Dawgs best hitter is Ryland Zaborowski who is batting .442 and has 14 HR.

Texas Longhorns (16/1)

Texas (23-4, 8-1 in SEC) was upset by Texas State on Tuesday, losing 5-3 after pitchers Kade Bing and Jason Flores went 7⅔ innings, allowing no hits at UFCU Disch-Falk Field. The Bobcats had four straight hits in the 8th inning. The Longhorns have some stellar pitchers in Luke Harrison (2-0, 2.12 ERA, 1.35 WHIP), Ruger Riojas (6-1, 3.00 ERA, 0.97 WHIP), and Jared Spencer (3-1, 3.62 ERA, 1.31 WHIP). At the plate, No. 5-ranked Texas is led by Ethan Mendoza (.373, 4 HR, 17 RBI), Max Belveu (.358, 6 HR, 22 RBI), Rylan Galvan (.338, 9 HR, 25 RBI), and Adrian Rodriguez (.325, 5 HR, 14 RBI).

Florida State Seminoles (18/1)

ACC heavyweight and No. 4-ranked Florida State (24-4) played Jacksonville on Tuesday evening and the Seminoles had to use seven pitchers (8 hits, 11 walks, 3 WP) in a come-from-behind 11-10 win at Home. It was the Seminoles’ first game in Tallahassee in their last 8. FSU got two home runs from Max Harrison and one from James Hankerson Jr. The offense is loaded with guys like Gage Harrelson (43 hits) and Alex Lodise (.466, 11 HR, 34 RBI) and hurlers like Joey Volini (7-0). The Seminoles host Wake Forest this weekend.

Final Thoughts and Men’s CWS Winner Pick

The pollsters and oddsmakers’ favorites and the best team in College Baseball and the defending champions Tennessee won the Knoxville Super Regional last year, going 5-1 (64 RD-25 RA) and then survived the 2024 College World Series, also finishing 5-1 (40 RF-29 RA). The Volunteers rallied to beat Texas A&M in the championship series, losing Game 1 (9-5) before winning Game 2 (4-1) and the crucial Game 3 (6-5) for the crown.

With the best ERA in DI behind Phillips and Doyle and the big sticks of Kilen, Fischer, and Curley (.309, 8 HR, 26 RBI), Hunter Ensley (.375, 4 HR, 33 RBI), and Reese Chapman (.317, 8 HR, 33 RBI), Tennessee is the team to beat and we may not see these 4/1 futures odds anymore if the Volunteers keep winning so expect them to win the College World Series.

Final Pick

Tennessee Volunteers +400
