2024 National Championship Odds For College Football: A First Look

With the 2023 college football season in the books and the transfer portal winding down, we can finally start to look at the 2024 national championship odds. The current college football landscape has chaos in the transfer portal, and teams’ fortunes change quickly. While we still have months to wait, here is a first look at the 2024 national championship odds. Note: All odds are via DraftKings’ sportsbook.

2024 National Championship Odds: The Favorites

  • Georgia Bulldogs +330
  • Ohio State Buckeyes +500
  • Texas Longhorns +750

Seeing Georgia as the favorite in the 2024 national championship odds isn’t a surprise. The Bulldogs bring back quarterback Carson Beck and are looking to reclaim their SEC and national champion crowns. Ohio State skyrocketed after the past ten days. They picked up a couple of former Alabama players who entered the portal after Nick Saban’s retirement.

Texas is right behind them, with quarterback Quinn Ewers returning for another season. They have also gotten many talented players through the transfer portal. One of the big questions was whether they could replenish the offensive talent leaving for the NFL Draft. Head coach Steve Sarkisian looks to have another talented roster poised to make a big run.

2024 National Championship Odds: The Next Tier

  • Alabama Crimson Tide +1100
  • LSU Tigers +1200
  • Oregon Ducks +1200
  • Michigan Wolverines +1200
  • Ole Miss Rebels +1500

Count Alabama out at your own risk. Even though Saban is gone, Jalen Milroe is still there. New head coach Kalen DeBoer has brought in some top-tier talent, showing he can get a team to the national championship. LSU is looking for a bounce-back season, and Oregon hopes Dillon Gabriel can elevate the offense to another level. Thanks to a great transfer portal season, Lane Kiffin has Ole Miss set up for success.

Michigan is an enigma. They are losing many top players, but their 2024 national championship odds come down to Jim Harbaugh. If the head coach decides to jump to the NFL, this team will likely undergo massive changes that will affect their odds. Bet at your own risk!

Long Shots With Some Value

Missouri Tigers Eli Drinkwitz

  • Florida State Seminoles +2000
  • Clemson Tigers +2200
  • Penn State Nittany Lions +2500
  • Notre Dame Fighting Irish +2800
  • Missouri Tigers +3000

These are some interesting 2024 national championship odds. The Seminoles will be eager to prove to the college football world they belong in the postseason. Dabo Swinney has a championship pedigree and will be eager to prove his doubters wrong. Penn State and Notre Dame quietly had a good transfer portal season, but I don’t love either.

If I had to choose one of these teams to bet on, it would be Missouri. They finished ninth in the nation and dominated Ohio State in their bowl game matchup. The SEC is brutal, and getting through it will be tough. However, getting in will be much easier with the expanded College Football Playoff. The Tigers could sneak in and, with their high-powered offense, could make some noise.

If You’re Feeling Crazy

Deion Sanders

There is one team that everyone will be looking for in the 2024 national championship odds. Deion Sanders is the talk of the college football world thanks to the job he did at Colorado. He has been vocal this offseason about the expectations for 2024. The odds do not share Sanders’ optimism. Colorado sits at +20000, the same odds as Iowa, Iowa State, UCLA, UCF, and SMU. If you are really feeling crazy, this would be a fun bet to cheer for this season.

The 2024 national championship odds may move some, but these will likely stay put until the 2024 season begins. There is great value this early; a well-placed bet could hit big.
